2M ZONE is an independent photographic platform founded by Milica Macanovic and Milan Vlaski, bringing together artistic practice, education, experimentation, and visual production.
The platform grew out of their shared photographic practice and an ongoing interest in photography not only as an image, but as a physical and material process. Working across analogue, historical, and experimental techniques, Milica and Milan approach photography through light, chemistry, material, time, and the photographic encounter itself.
A particular place within their practice belongs to the wet plate collodion process and ambrotype that has become both an artistic medium and an important part of their educational work. Their interest, however, extends beyond a single process, encompassing alternative and historical photographic techniques, analogue photography, experimental approaches, as well as contemporary photography and moving image.
Milan and Milica work both independently and collaboratively. Their individual practices bring together different photographic languages and experiences, while their joint projects emerge from experimentation, exchange, and the process of making images together. Their collaborative work has been exhibited alongside their individual artistic practices, gradually forming the foundation from which 2M ZONE developed.
Through workshops, intensive individual training, lectures, and practical demonstrations, 2M ZONE creates opportunities to experience photographic processes through direct, hands-on practice. Rather than approaching historical techniques as fixed methods from the past, the platform explores their possibilities within contemporary photographic and artistic practice. Knowledge is shared through making — from understanding materials and chemistry to producing the final photographic object.
At the same time, 2M ZONE remains deliberately open. Alongside artistic and educational activities, their practise extends into commissioned photography, video, and visual production, allowing historical processes and contemporary image-making to coexist within the same space.

MILAN VLAsKI is a cinematographer, photographer and educator whose practice spans photography, film, television, and historical photographic processes. He studied Film and Television Camera at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade and continued his postgraduate education at Sheffield Hallam University’s Northern Media School in the UK, where he received a Master’s degree in Film and Television Drama Production, specialising in cinematography.
Over more than three decades of professional practice, Vlaski has worked as a director of photography, cameraman, producer, and photographer across documentary film, television, fiction, music video, and commercial production. His professional experience includes work for international and regional broadcasters and production companies, including BBC, CCTV, NOS, and WTN, alongside numerous independent film and television productions.
Alongside his cinematographic work, photography has remained a central part of his artistic and educational practice. His particular interest lies in analogue and historical photographic processes, especially wet plate collodion photography and ambrotype. For more than a decade, he has taught and presented the wet plate process through workshops and lectures at photography and documentary film festivals and cultural events in Serbia and across the region, including MakeDox, Zrno Festival, Mikser Festival, and Photo Nomads.
His photographic work has been exhibited in Serbia and internationally, while his cinematographic work has been presented and awarded at international film festivals. Since 2019, he has also worked as an Associate Professor at Educons University, bringing his extensive professional and artistic experience into education.

Milica Macanovic is a visual artist, photographer, and educator whose practice moves between photography, drawing, spatial research, and experimental image-making. Trained as an architect, she holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture from the University of Belgrade. Her architectural background continues to inform her artistic practice, particularly through an interest in space, structure, perception, and the relationship between the image and its physical environment.
Her photographic practice spans analogue and digital photography, self-portraiture, and historical and experimental photographic processes. Working with 35mm and medium-format film, Polaroid, wet plate collodion, cyanotype, mordançage, and other analogue techniques, she approaches photography not only as an image, but also as a material, temporal, and experimental process. Imperfection, chance, transformation, and the physical qualities of the photographic object form an important part of her visual language.
Her work frequently develops through long-term research, personal archives, and interdisciplinary experimentation, moving between documentary observation and constructed or autobiographical imagery. Across different projects, she explores questions of identity, intimacy, memory, presence and absence, displacement, and the relationship between physical and mediated experience.
Macanovic has been working as a freelance photographer, alongside her independent artistic practice. She worked professionally as an architect in Belgrade and was a team member of the MultiMadeira Art Residency in Madeira, Portugal. In 2025–2026 she continued her education through the Experimental Photography Diploma programme at Ágora – School of Experimentation in Barcelona. 
Education has become an integral part of her professional practice. She develops and leads educational programmes in analogue and digital photography, with a particular focus on historical, alternative, and experimental photographic techniques.
